Not my favorite idea, but I was tired enough to be happy with whatever got him through the night. He is also getting his first tooth (we think) so he has been a little fussy - which honestly is the biggest complaint I can make about this boy. He has been such an angel since the day he was born! He is even sleeping close to 14 hours almost every night!
As a special treat to help sooth his sore mouth we let him chew on a piece of watermelon the other day. This kid is so ready for food!! We went out to eat last weekend and I gave him my straw to chew on (hoping it would make him happy long enough to let Rylee finish her dinner). When I looked down again he had sucked my root beer up the straw almost to the top!! Seriously? I constantly remind him that he is only four months old and still a baby but he seems to have no patience for that.
I am such a sucker as a mom and this little boy definitely has me wrapped around his little baby fingers. (I like to think I have a little better grip on the situation with Rylee, but in all honesty I am completely hopeless.) I feel so guilty when he watches us eat, smacking his lips, following every bite from fork to mouth, that I finally gave in and decided to start giving him cereal early. Of course he made the priceless "first food" faces and we were all sitting around laughing as we watched him. After only a couple of nights, though, he seems to have mastered the concept and now inhales his cereal.
Here is his first bite. "Hmmm ... not so bad ..."
But let it sit for a minute and then ...
Jayden is definitely Chad's "mini me". There is no real way to describe it, so instead I will show you:
One thing, however, has not changed since the day we brought this sweet baby home: Rylee absolutely adores him. (Although I do wonder how long that will last!) I love to watch her lay on the floor to play with him and it cracks me up every time she calls him "Big Boy" or "Jayden Buddy". If I tell her I am tired she tells me to go to sleep and she will take care of Jayden and change his diaper and keep him happy. (Of course, when I try to get her to change his diaper she tells me she can't touch it cause it's eew gross.) I hope they stay best friends for a long, long time.
