Mother's Day

To celebrate Mother's Day we went to a movie with Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Mikey on Saturday. The kids got scared (probably we didn't pick the most kid-friendly movie), but Chad took them to the park and let me stay to watch the movie with my family. Later that evening we picked up some Wendy's and went to Mack Park for a picnic. It was great to sit on a blanket under the trees to eat dinner, and the kids had a great time playing! (Somehow I didn't manage to get a single picture - which is very unlike me. I'll blame it on feeling sick and having a fuzzy head.)

Sunday morning I woke up feeling pretty sick so Grandma took me to the InstaCare. What a great mom to spend her Mother's Day morning in the waiting room with me, just so I could get some better cough medicine!

While we were waiting for the doctor, Chad helped the kids make me these beautiful flowers:

They are the perfect decoration for my desk and, best of all, they will never die!! Chad and the kids also made me a hand-painted card (Ry is quite the artist these days):

That evening we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a delicious pork burrito dinner. We got to eat yummy food and spend time playing together. Even being sick it turned out to be a great Mother's Day!

1 & 4 Years Old

A couple of weeks ago we took the kids to Merlin Olsen Park and First Dam. We haven't ever taken the kids to a professional portrait studio, but we do try to keep current pictures of them both. This park trip was perfect for some annual pictures!

Rylee - 4 Years Old:

Jayden - 1 Year Old:

They are so cute together!

Jayden's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Jayden's 1st Birthday by partying, eating and playing! After Baby Animal Days we went to Pizza Pie Cafe for all-we-could-eat pizza. Yummm! Pizza is Jayden's favorite food right now and mama loves the dessert pizzas there! Once we were sufficiently stuffed we headed back to Grandma and Grandpa's house to open presents and have cake and ice cream. Jayden got spoiled rotten (as usual) and Rylee is having as much fun with his presents as he is.

Jayden was so funny with the cake! He didn't seem to want to get his hands too dirty but he had no problem sticking his whole face in it!!

Random Jayden Facts at 1-year-old:

  • he not only walks but also runs, jumps and climbs everything
  • he finally hit the 20lbs mark so he can ride in the big boy carseat! (after a week of being sick he is back to only 17lbs, but we're going to pretend that didn't happen)
  • he has had 5 haircuts and somehow still looks like an orphan child
  • he says ball, book, wow, what's that, hi, dad, mama and baba (among many other parroted words that he doesn't really know the meanings of)
  • he definitely has his dad's appetite: he will eat just about anything and he eats constantly
  • he gets his sleep habits from his mom, though (finally ... a child that sleeps!)
  • he has - or is currently getting - seven of his front teeth (and i have suspicions about molars already coming in, too)
  • he loves any and every kind of ball (even paper wadded up into a ball) and driving little cars around the floor making vroom noises
  • he is also fascinated by the little motorcycles daddy makes - anytime he is fussy all we have to do is take him out to daddy's workbench
  • and he still loves Rylee more than anyone!!!
