Pumpkins and Cookies

This weekend we carved our pumpkins and made sugar cookies to get ready for Halloween next weekend. This was Rylee's first pumpkin experience since we didn't do them last year. She did pretty well with them, but we were very surprised by her reaction! First we stripped her down expecting her to get really messy:

It took a while to convince her to put her hands inside it. She really wasn't sure why we wanted her to do it:

We definitely weren't ready for this! We couldn't stop laughing:
She didn't seem quite sure what to think about it at first: But it must not have been too bad because she took another taste: And then she went in for some more: And just kept eating and eating. This is going to be a pumpkin pie baby this Thanksgiving: After pumpkins we made some Halloween sugar cookies. Here is Ry and Grandma cutting out the shapes: And Ry and Mama cutting out some shapes: Rylee loved doing the spatula best, though: Here is Ry's completed masterpiece (courtesy of Daddy): Mom's finished pumpkin: And Daddy's finished pumpkin: Then later after it got dark we went outside and lit the candles. Rylee thought it was pretty cool, although she did really, really want to pick the pumpkins up and carry them around. Stay tuned for pictures of Halloween night!
