I had to work the night of the 3rd so we couldn't go to the stadium for the fireworks show. But I got done with just enough time to run out back and watch the fireworks from the trampoline with Chad and the kids. It turned out pretty perfect: the kids jumped on the tramp and ran around the yard which kept them entertained while they were waiting; we had a pretty good view of the show (enough to entertain a 4-year-old) and it was quiet enough that neither of the kids got scared; and the best part was we didn't have to get in our car and fight traffic to get home afterwords! When the kids are older I am sure we will want to go to the stadium more often, but this was perfect for our little family this year!
On the 4th we went miniature golfing with Grandma and Uncle Mikey. (I was so distracted by the heat that I didn't take any pictures.) Rylee did a great job and made up some interesting new rules! Grandma won (closely followed by Uncle Mikey) and she got a free game for next time. We were so hot after golfing that we decided to stop for Slurpee's. That night we had a BBQ at Grandma and Grandpa's house, then did some poppers and sparklers. The best part was when Rylee started waving one of her sparklers around and all of a sudden the end flew off into the grass. Then there were a couple minutes of Daddy and Uncle Mikey dancing around trying to put out the fire before the whole yard went up in flames!
The next day we got dinner at Maddox and went to an Ogden Raptor's game (again, no pictures ... I wonder what's wrong with me lately?) They got beat (by the worst team in the league so I hear), but we had a lot of fun watching anyway. It was Rylee and Jayden's first real baseball game so we made sure to eat lots of ballpark junk food and Daddy bought them a souvenir baseball. There was also a little playground area at the edge of the field (which is the best idea ever if you ask me) so the kids got to go play when they started getting bored of the game.
On Saturday we went to Lagoon. This was Jayden's first time there and Rylee hadn't been since she was barely 2-years-old. I was so impressed with how brave Rylee was! She wanted to try every single ride (even some of the ones that I decided she couldn't try because they were too scary for me to watch her on)! Her favorite rides were the swings and the boats in the kiddie area. Jayden got to go on a lot of rides, too. Mostly, though, he just seemed pretty bored. We spent several hours at Lagoon-a-Beach (which helped pass the hottest part of the day) then spent the afternoon and evening riding rides. When the park closed at 10:30 (after 12 hours of swimming and rides) we told Rylee we had to go and she cried all the way to the car! She can't wait to go back to "Magoon"! (We can't seem to get her to say it right ... I guess magoon is just more fun to say.)
What a great holiday! We love summer time so much. The rest of our summer plans include Hogle Zoo, the Ogden Dinosaur Park, Bear Lake (hopefully many times), the Fair in August, and lots of time at the pool. This week Rylee gets to have her cousin Reagan over to stay for 4 days. Rylee is so excited to have a friend around and we have lots of fun plans for the weekend! Rylee has been invited to stay at Reagan's house for a while this summer, too. It is soooo great that the kids have so many cousins their age. They are going to have some awesome memories when they are grown up!!
